BADGER COLOR USA Commissions New 83 mm Twin Screw Extrusion Line in North Carolina

KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. — BADGER COLOR USA has commissioned and is now operating a new 83 mm twin screw extruder at its Kings Mountain, N.C., facility, adding more than 2 million pounds of annual production capacity for higher volume custom color programs.

The extruder was custom engineered by the Kafrit Group engineering team with a focus on flexibility and operating efficiency. The investment helps BADGER COLOR USA meet growing demand for larger-volume custom color production while maintaining the service levels and short lead times the company is known for.

“This investment ensures we have the right capacity in place to support our customers as their programs grow,” said Thomas Bernhardt, general manager of BADGER COLOR USA. “The line gives us greater flexibility and operating efficiency while helping us maintain the service and lead times our customers count on.”

The added capacity enables BADGER COLOR USA to support lot sizes of approximately 44,000 pounds and above with the same service model it has traditionally offered on medium-sized lots.
“We continue to see opportunities where customers need larger lot sizes but do not want to lose responsiveness in the process,” said Mark Zolty, director of sales and marketing at BADGER COLOR USA. “This expansion allows us to bring our service model and shorter lead times to programs at roughly 44,000 pounds and above.”
