Job Description

Summary:

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician will perform repairs and preventative maintenance on all production and lab equipment. This position will support the efforts of all department personnel to ensure all equipment is maintained in the most cost-effective way without sacrificing quality of product.

$1,000 sign on bonus after 90 days!

1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift available based on preference!

Essential Duties:

  • Ensures safe work environment and practices.
  • Supports continuous improvement, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing
  • Performs general PM’s, PDM’s, condition monitoring of equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs basic mechanical drive systems. Repairs electrical equipment.
  • Operates oxy/acetylene torch for cutting and heating. Welds MIG / TIG.
  • Performs program audits to ensure compliance. Other tasks as assigned by management.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Serves as back-up for Maintenance Team members during absences.
  • Serves as a member of the Shift Emergency Response team for purposes of monitoring and handling potential degrade/fume spills, fire or tornado. Along with the Supervisor, serves as a go-to for injured or sick employees on the shift to determine best method of treatment. May be involved in the transport to clinic or hospital of injured (minor), sick, or employees under reasonable suspicion for drugs or alcohol use on premises.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • Overtime as required due to backlog

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with 1-3 years’ experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, with strong electrical troubleshooting background.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as they pertain to dealing with employees at all levels of the organization, contractors.
  • Outstanding attendance, judgment, organizational, problem solving, and Microsoft Office computer skills.
  • Experience includes: pneumatics, metal fab/welding, forklifts, experience with lathe and mill helpful but not required
  • Experience in a plastics industry environment preferred (extrusion or injection machines) but not required
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and other Safety Regulations, and in the frequent use of personal protective equipment. (HazCom, LockOut/TagOut, Respiratory Protection, Electrical Safety, etc.)
