Staff Accountant

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the company, with an emphasis on accurate transaction processing, timely month-end close support, account reconciliations, and maintenance of key accounting schedules. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound accounting knowledge, and the ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

·         Process accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices, coding, approvals, payment preparation, and related documentation.

·         Process accounts receivable transactions, including customer invoicing, cash application, account follow-up, and related recordkeeping.

·         Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting procedures.

·         Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals, adjusting entries, and other closing entries as needed.

·         Perform general ledger, bank, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.

·         Maintain schedules for prepaid expenses and prepare related monthly amortization entries.

·         Maintain schedules for capital expenditure projects, including tracking project spending, supporting documentation, and capitalization activity.

·         Perform basic customer and vendor maintenance, including setup, updates, and review of required documentation.

·         Assist with annual 1099 tax processing, including vendor review, reporting preparation, and compliance support.

·         Support audit requests by preparing schedules, documentation, and account support as needed.

·         Communicate with vendors, customers, and internal departments to resolve accounting questions, discrepancies, or missing information.

·         Assist with accounting process improvements and help maintain strong internal controls.

·         Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

·         Minimum of three years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.

·         Minimum of an associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

·         Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, month-end close processes, and reconciliations.

·         Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, account analysis, and financial recordkeeping.

·         Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

·         Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience using Sage ERP or a similar enterprise resource planning system.

·         Prior experience supporting manufacturing cost accounting, inventory-related accounting, or fixed asset processes.
